2018 The Story of Xi Lou Ji

"Bees flapping on the paper windows and butterflies hovering over the white wall" is the quote from the opera that inspired our design concept. We hence built short walls all over the stage, finely surrounding the Chinese orchestra. The lighting and shadow changed through the music and scenes, reflected a variety of images on the walls, metaphorically representing the leading characters’ imagination of the world on the other side of the walls. "Muddling along while waking, idly played with the parrots and waited for the plum blossoms’ sweet smell" was presented by projection or prints on the settings with Artist Su Meng-Hong’s flowers and birds’ artworks, furnishing young people’s perplexity and frailness.
